Flying with Jesus

As I sit in sadness and miss my grandma, I also smile as I remember her.

Growing up, my family and I, always lived close to my grandparents. My parents first house was right by my moms parents. When my grandparents moved, we weren't long to follow and my dad bought land off them and we were neighbors again and still are. I moved away from home shortly after graduating high school but oh the memories and joy of having my grandparents close.

I can remember sled riding with my grandma and as we were coming down the hill we took a turn and headed for the barbed wire fence. She pushed me off and she went sliding (what seemed like) face first into the wire. She was my hero :)

Another memory I have of my grandma is her driving me home one night. And by that, I mean down her driveway and into ours. (A quick background story, my mom was raised Amish, left the church and awhile after my grandparents did too and are Mennonite. At the time, I was younger and apparently hadn't seen my grandma drive much.) So, as she was driving me down to our house I decided that now would be a good time to ask if she knew how to drive. :) She said she did, but as we came to our house and got closer and closer to the garage door she yells "which ones the brake!" I of course freak out and yell "the one on the left!" as she smiles and chuckles in the drivers seat.  I can't help but laugh every time I think of this moment! She was such a silly, fun, loving grandma!

Another memory I have of her is playing kick the can in my parents yard. I still feel like I can see her running, dress and all, to the can and yelling "kick the can!" After having 8 kids of her own, she still made some time to play with us.

She was a great and wonderful grandma but more importantly, she became my best friend. It seems that once you become an adult yourself you truly understand the importance of knowledge from another, slightly older adult.  :) When I got married, I can remember my grandma talking to me about my wedding night. I can't remember her exact words but I can remember her humor and my red cheeks. It was funny coming from her.

When we had our first child, she came to my house to see him. I will forever cherish the moments my grandma (now called Gigi = Great grandma) had with Nolan.

I loved how her and I would joke around and be silly together. The last few years it was hard for her to get her around and so I few months ago I went to visit her and decided it was time to rearrange her furniture. I thought she would like it better if we put her by the window. So part of our joke was that she had to help. She had to move her own chair, one that took two people to move. Just silly stuff like that. We had fun together!

When my husband and I got pregnant with our first, she was the first person I called. When we lost our first, she was one of the first people I called. When we were pregnant again with Nolan, she was the first person I called! When we wanted to try again for a second, I called her again and her only. Then when we couldn't get pregnant and also found out we didn't have maternity coverage, I called her again. She was always the one I wanted to call. Hers was the sweet encouraging voice I needed and wanted to hear.
My grandma was one tough cookie! She raised 8 kids and was an amazing grandma and great grandma! I couldn't have asked for a more amazing grandma!

I will forever be grateful for her and all she taught me. My heart aches as I long to hear her voice again and she her smile. I am rejoicing as well, knowing that she is no longer in pain but she is in the arms of our loving Savior!

When she was in the hospital, and able to speak, she would tell us "I want to go fly with Jesus."  Now she is Flying in Heaven with Jesus and I know one day I will see her again! One day I will get to fly with her too.

I LOVE YOU GIGI AND I MISS YOU VERY MUCH.

God's Plan

I can't believe how time flies and these last few weeks I have been reminded just how precious our time together is.
The first week of August I got to go on vacation with my husband and his family. We had an amazing time. While there, I found out my grandma (and best friend) was admitted to the hospital.

(my grandma Gigi and my son when we brought him home from the hospital-2010)
I love her so much!!

She hasn't been well for the last few years and was having stomach pain. I got home in time to see her before surgery Saturday Aug 11th. She made it through surgery, was stable, and so my husband, son & I made the rest of the trip home on Sunday. Monday morning I received a call that they thought my grandma had a heart attack. She was taken to a cartio unit in another hospital. I threw my suitcase back in the car, grabbed my son and headed back to my parents to be with my grandma and family. I can't tell you what a blessing it was to be with my family (& extended family) for a whole week. Having the family together at the hospital was such an amazing, emotional time for us all. My grandma is still holding on but she is being moved to a "comfort care" facility today. We are praying for peace and that Gods love is shown through all this.

He was so amazing. We had 9-10 hours days at the hospital.

During this time we also celebrated my son's 2nd birthday- August 18th

Here are some pictures and reason to celebrate during this hard time.

My little family!

Another party for this little boy

Its been such a busy, emotional and tiring few weeks. I am so grateful for family, friends and God's support. This morning I was so completely exhausted, as I have been. My son even let me sleep in a little bit and I was still tired. I got my coffee and sat down to read my daily devotional from My Utmost for His Highest. Today was a reminder to Ask the Lord to put awareness of Himself in me and stop focusing on my self-awareness. The verse today was Matthew 11:28, "Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest." It couldn't have been a more perfect time to hear this. I closed my eyes, prayed and gave God my stress and worry. When I said Amen I felt more awake then I have all week. God promises to hear us when we cry out to Him. What an awesome God we serve!

Don't forget to take time and give Him your burdens. Have a great week.

Sincerely,
Natassia

Me and my beautiful grandma (April 2012) I love her so much!!

4 years ago today I married my best friend! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect partner. We headed to Mexico with friends and family and had an amazing time! Now 4 years later we are with family and friends again on a beach and are able to celebrate! I am so blessed!!

We have been boogie boarding, swimming in the pool, doing a lot of eating and some night time crab catching!

Being his mommy

I just simply adore this little boy and being his mommy. The last two days have been especially fun because we have been running errands, just the two of us, and he has come along with a smile. On Monday we actually went to 8 different places in about 4.5 hours, and I was very proud of him.. He walked with me, held my hand, snuggled me when I carried him and was quiet and happy when in the stroller... It was one of those days that exhausted you but filled you with such joy at the same time. Simply amazing and I loved every minute. It's these moments that remind me just how blessed I am to be able to be a SAHM.

So, after the last two days, even though he was before, he is even more so now, a mommas boy. In the morning when he wakes up and calls out for me "mommy, where are you?" it is the best way to wake up. When I'm busy in one room and he is in another and suddenly wants my attention "mommy, where are you"  I just can't help but smile. I am told one day will come when I will want to change my name from mommy to anything else, but I hope I always remember these moments and how hearing my name called "mommy" just melts me. There is a love for this little boy that I never knew could exist.

On monday, while making our 8 stops, our first one was to Starbucks.
I got my favorite iced coffee and purchased two cake pops.
He wasn't too sure at first

But he soon realized how much he LOVED it

and I love being able to treat him.

Prior to going out for a cake pop, I attempted to pre-pack for this weekends trip to the beach.
I needed to take a look at what I had and see if anything was needed.
This little guy wanted to be close to mommy and so he took a nap while I went through clothes.
See him in my mess

He is such a blessing and I thank God every day for this little boy and for my big boy :)

These two are my favorite gentlemen
Love you both so much
